Materials and Care

MATERIALS

Sterling Silver
Our sterling silver pieces are made from .925 sterling silver, a durable alloy composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% strengthening metals such as copper or brass. We try to use hypoallergenic nickel-free alloys as much as possible (I'm allergic to nickel too). Over time, sterling silver will naturally develop a patina and will tarnish if not stored properly. This is a normal characteristic of the material and can add depth and character to each piece.
Gold
The most common variations of gold come in yellow, white, and rose. Gold is highly coveted in jewelry for its luster and lasting durability when made into an alloy of 10/12/14/18k Gold. Gold alloys contain a percentage of pure gold and other metals such as copper or silver. In gold, purity is measured by karat:

10k gold – 10/24 parts (41.66%) purity in gold.
12k gold – 12/24 parts (50%) purity in gold.
14k gold – 14/24 parts (58.33%) purity in gold.
18k gold – 18/24 parts (75%) purity in gold.

Gemstones
Gemstones are durable but require mindful care. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, extreme temperatures, and harsh chemicals. To prevent damage, store carefully and avoid impact with hard surfaces.

GENERAL CARE

To preserve the quality of your jewelry, we recommend removing all pieces before showering, swimming, exercising, or cleaning, as exposure to moisture and chemicals can affect its finish. Salt water, chlorine, shampoo and conditioner, perfume, hairspray, cleaning products, and lotions or oils all may impact the longevity of each piece.

Regular wear can help maintain a polished appearance and combat tarnishing. To restore its finish, jewelry can be gently cleaned using warm, soapy water and a soft bristled toothbrush.

When not in use, store your pieces in an airtight container or a soft pouch to help reduce exposure to moisture and prevent tarnish.
